THE ART in Penallt team have once again excelled themselves with a stunning exhibition for the Penallt Art Festival which ran from 22nd to 25th September.
The opening night on Thursday 22nd saw the beautiful Capel Pentwyn in the village packed with visitors.
The exhibition was a preview of the work of 27 artists and sculptors, including many top names locally and nationally.
In a change of tack, Friday night revealed the talents of Monmouth school secondary pupils in the evening ‘Peg it Up’ exhibition in Babington Meadow Arena.
Saturday and Sunday, in spite of variable weather conditions welcomed over 500 visitors to the exhibition in Capel Pentwyn and to further displays and demonstrations by national luminaries including Richard Wills and Walter Keeler.
The art in Penallt team are delighted by the sales that will help fund future exhibitions and also make a contribution to their nominated charities for 2016: Babington Meadow and Bridges in Monmouth.
One of the highlights of the exhibition was the brilliant portrait by Virginie Hartley of Sue Kedward and ‘Big Dave’ from the local Monmouth Waitrose store. For those that use the store, they will know both always bring a smile to one’s face with their good humour and courtesy.
Art in Penallt is a not for profit organisation whose aim is to organise an annual art festival in the village of Penallt. The festival organisers are all local volunteers and work in partnership with Babington Meadow, a registered charity, and have also developed a close association with Made in Monmouthshire and local secondary schools.
The purpose is to stimulate interest and enthusiasm amongst all age groups in the artistic process of creating a broad range of art and craft forms sell a wide variety of high quality artwork.
