A canoeist has completed an 82-mile journey along the Wye to Monmouth to help a friend.
Paul Clayton, of Northleach, spent six days living on the river and its banks as he made his way down from Glasbury, near Hay-on-Wye.
"I rowed each day until I found a beach where I could set up camp for the night and cook some food," he said.
The rigging on Paul's home-made vessel means it can be transformed into a sailing boat or a tent depending on the situation.
After travelling from the Welsh border through Herefordshire and braving the rapids at Symonds Yat, Paul ended his journey last Thursday (2nd August) after a night in Monmouth.
"I did it because I can, but also to raise money to help my friend Tat (Adam Tattersall), who broke his neck in an accident and is wheelchair-bound," said Paul.
"His car is really the only way he can get out and about, he has had one come from the US which he can drive from his wheelchair.
"The problem is it's a 3.6 v8 petrol engine, so we are raising money to convert it to gas, and any left over cash will be put into a trust fund to buy extra fuel."
Paul, who took on the Thames last year after transforming the 'Titanic' into a mini narrowboat, has raised about £600 so far.
