BARITONE soloist, Roger Martin, will be performing a recital of English Songs on Friday 20th May at St Tewdric’s Church in Chepstow.

Roger will be accompanied by Martin Pagnamenta on the piano with all proceeds from the concert being donated to this week’s Red Cross Week.

Red Cross Week is the charity’s annual fundraising event when people all over the country are busy cake baking, marathon running and charity bucket collecting to raise much-needed funds for the Red Cross’s work at home and overseas.

Roger said: “Martin and I have been making music together over the last four years for a range of charities. We especially enjoy performing from the enormous range of the English song repertoire, sadly rarely heard.

“Our programme includes what we believe to be some of the best of the genre, where the work of poets and writers combine to create something quite special.

“It is a privilege to be able to select this programme for the Red Cross.”

Sarah Austin, community fundraiser at the Red Cross in South Wales, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Roger and Martin for holding this fantastic recital on behalf of the Red Cross.

“Events such as this are a really important source of fundraising for us and will ensure we can continue to support vulnerable people in crisis both locally and overseas.”

The funds are needed today more than ever before to help people in crisis. This includes providing support to people in Wales affected by floods, accidents, fires and other emergencies and providing food, shelter and medical assistance in places like Syria and South Sudan.

Tickets are available for the recital which takes place at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £8 and include a welcome drink on arrival.

Tickets are on sale in the Red Cross Shop in Chepstow on Welsh Street, or by contacting Chris Morton on 01291 623743.
