The centre of Monmouth will be closed to traffic this Friday (4th March) as the town plays host to a freedom parade for the Royal Welsh.
To mark the formal granting of the freedom of Monmouthshire to the regiment, soldiers will be marching with swords drawn and bayonets fixed.
The decision to grant the freedom, unanimously agreed at the January meeting of the county council, recognises the heroism and devotion to duty of the regiment during the Afghanistan and Iraq campaigns.
