There are a number of planned closures in order to carry out works on the expansion joints on the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge.

Works were successfully undertaken on 10 and 16 December but unfortunately, due to the weather they had to postpone the 17 December works.

Overnight westbound closure from 8pm 22 December – 6am 23 December. Noting the festive travel patterns, they have avoided the main getaway dates of 19 and 20 December to reduce the impact of any such closures.

The diversion route for the closure will be via the M48 using off and on closures at M48 J1 & J2 with traffic signals on the roundabouts to ensure the freight levels remain acceptable. In line with the commitment, during the M4 closure freight will be allowed to use the M48 Severn Bridge as above .
