HABERDASHERS’ Monmouth School are hosting a Future Education Symposium to give the community an opportunity to hear from influential figures.

The event is taking place on Thursday September 17 in the Recital Hall at St Catherine’s Campus.

The community is welcome to join for refreshments at 4.30pm with the main event starting at 5pm until 6.30pm.

The Education Symposium will allow Haberdashers’ Monmouth School parents and friends, educationalists and local opinion formers the opportunity to hear from influential figures from education and industry debating with each other an answering questions from the audience.

This builds on the discussions and thinking behind their recent curriculum reforms and their Future’s Programme but will look at wider questions about the purpose and direction of education of education in a world where technology, climate change and global instability are calling into question.

The panels is going to be chaired by Dame Hilary Boulding, a recently appointed Governor of Haberdashers’ Monmouth School and former President of Trinity College in Oxford.

Other panel members who will be attending the education symposium include:

Tom Campbell, CEO of E-ACT Multi Academy Trust

Yvonne Roberts-Ablett, Head of Curriculum Policy at the Welsh Government

Martin Collier, Former Master of Haileybury

Sir Warren East, Former CEO of Rolls Royce

Sarah Fletcher, Former High Mistress of St. Paul’s Girls’ School in London.

Representatives of the Welsh Government and qualifications awarding bodies have also been invited to take part.

The places to attend the Education Symposium are limited. If the event is oversubscribed the preference will be given to families of year nine and year eleven pupils because of the specific relevance of the discussion to pupils who will be making choices about their futures in the next few months.

Pupils in those year groups and in the Sixth Form are also welcome to attend but they must also book using the form.

People are also invited to suggest a question for the Panel when booking their place.

More information can be found on the Haberdashers’ Monmouth School website where you can also book your place.
