SIX string players from the Monmouth Suzuki Group have become National Champions in Chamber Music.
The Suzuki All Stars entered the National Chamber Music Competition for Schools in the under 12 category and after proceeding through the initial rounds held at Cheltenham Ladies' College and Millfield School they took part in the Winners' Concert in Radley College.
On hearing the sextet, one of the organisers commented that it was delightful to hear an under 12 group playing like professionals.
Presiding at the concert was Mr Colin Touchin, Director of Music as Warwick University. He congratulated the group on the way they communicated their obvious enjoyment of their music to the audience.
This is a tremendous achievement for these young girls as this is the most prestigious Chamber Music Competition, attracting the very best of young musicians from around the country.
The delighted sextet consists of (from left) Collette Hazen (Shirenewton Primary School); Rhoslyn Lawton (Monmouth Comprehensive School); Rosanna Harris, Caroline Field, Elizabeth Morgan, and Katie Harries (all from HMSG).
