SIR,

This weekend is one of great nostalgia for me. It was 74 years ago from 1st September that I was one of the evacuees who arrived in Monmouth.

My father taught at Five Ways School and my mother and I came with him. We went to the Rolls Hall first, then to Ivy Bridge Guest House for the weekend before being billeted with a family near the golf course, sadly no longer with us.

We then had a cottage, 2 Russell Place, and I spent the next five happy years at the girls' school. I have lost all contact with Monmouth and even the evacuees association are not interested.Do any of your readers remember anything of that time? Would they like to reminisce? Please write c/o the Beacon.
