Members of St Mary's Priory Church Monmouth pulled out all the stops last week by inviting world famous organist Huw Williams to give a recital to raise funds for the church.

Huw, described as one of the greatest musicians to come out of Wales, is the suborganist at the Chapel Royal, St James's Palace and a principal organist at St Paul's Cathedral, London.

As such, Huw has played for many state events. His career incorporates performing, accompanying, recording, broadcasting and teaching.

It is little wonder that the choral societies of Monmouth and Stroud are so proud to have him as their conductor.

Fears that the recital might not take place because the top manual of the organ was not functioning properly were soon allayed by Huw's charismatic approach.

A slight alteration to the programme and the ability to proceed on schedule utiliasing the remaining functions were testament to his professionalism and expertise.
