SIR,
I was pleased to see the letter concerning possible legality rights of Waitrose parking charges, and statement concerning Chippenham Mead.
The parking charges I suspect will be legal when imposed. Customers have always paid for conditional parking, not free parking, unless you are lucky and the exit booth is not manned.
I think that on showing a receipt over £5 you can exit.
I am glad to see that seats have been replaced on the car park side where customers were picked up.
Why not seats on both side of the shop? In an ageing population this would be welcomed and also help others.
Shops years ago provided seats for their valued customers.
As regards Chippenham size, many newcomers to Monmouth do not realise perhaps that the area on the other side of the by-pass is also part of Chippenham.
I agree that it is of utmost importance that the historical evidence of public land is transparently recorded for future inheritance and enjoyment for all.
