MADAM,
I use a basket on wheels to give me support, I need this when I leave my home.
The kerbing in St John’s Street was not in poor condition at all, nor was it unsafe; I should know, I live here.
I’ve never complained to anyone about the old kerbing. I’m over 90 and those stone kerbs were never a problem to me, so why should they be a problem to anyone else?
I can’t see any reason why they were taken up. They hadn’t changed in all the years I have lived here. Bit by bit our heritage is being stripped. I’m surprised they didn’t tarmac over the cobbles while they were ripping up the kerb. Highways aren’t interested in heritage.
I’m too old to fight now but I wish I wasn’t. Those old kerbs should still be here; I would be joining the fight to get them back if I were younger.
