MADAM,
Chippenham Mead is your last free open space area of land for Monmouthians to occupy. Two thirds of the Mead is occupied by five groups of people, rugby, football, cricket, tennis, bowls with the permission of MCC (Monmouthshire County Council) and MTC (Monmouth Town Council), as these groups are happy with the development of a new relocated play area, it should be located on ground they now use.
One third of Chippenham is for people like myself to use for non sporty-physical use. Sunbathing, reading, conversing with friends and we must protect our right to the use of our free open space and stop any more developments on Chippenham or there will be more.
In 2014 your democratically elected town council unanimously voted to refurbish and upgrade our present play area at a cost of around £85,000 but because of a small group of unelected ego seeking people “with the backing? of MCC” who disagreed with our decision three years later and absolutely nothing has been achieved.
This is a disgrace, the cost of their action is eating into the £85,000 we had, so far MCC have failed to supply me with the cost of the delay. This is your money and free open space land being abused.
