SIR,

I was amused to see that Monmouthshire County Council planners have rejected plans for their own new headquarters.

Apparently the land is flood-prone.

Environment Agency Wales said "...planned works increased flood risks upstream...".

The various councillors' comments seem to me pretty exclusive in their decision to throw this application out.

What a shame the same diligence was not employed here in Monmouth before the new Rockfield Estate was approved.

NIMBY seems to be the planners attitude – and no you did not get the infrastructure – schools, shops etc.

What about 400 homes on Wonastow Road flood plain?

They'll approve that – its NIMBY.
