MADAM, You may have seen that in May, we at National Trust Wales, launched our Special Places competition to find the nation's most special place. I wanted to encourage your readers to rally behind Monmouthshire landmarks and vote for them to be in with a chance of winning this year's competition. We know there's some amazing local sites, and places such as the Kymin in Monmouth, Chepstow Castle, or Abergavenny market could all do so well if the people of Monmouthshire get behind them. To rally up the competition, this year we've actually introduced five new categories to represent the diverse landscape of Wales. People can vote for a special place in each of the five categories which are; Glorious Coast, Parks and Gardens, Wild Open Spaces, Historic Buildings and Quirky and Urban – so there is plenty of opportunity for the places of Monmouthshire to come out on top. If you have a special place in Monmouthshire or anywhere in Wales that you would like to nominate, simply vote on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using #specialplaces or #lleoeddarbennig and tagging @NTWales. Voters can also cast their preferences by filling in forms at National Trust Wales sites including Dyffryn Gardens and Tredegar House. You only have until Tuesday 14th July to make sure yours is in the shortlist, so be quick to be in with a chance! We can't wait to see which place comes out as Wales' number one.
