A CHILDREN'S play area in Trellech could be transformed into the village's new surgery.

Proposals for a single-storey practice to be built on the northern end of land near Roman Park View have been submitted to Monmouthshire Council.

A car park with space for 25 cars and a turning area for vans and ambulances would also be built, and the site would be accessed through Roman Park View.

The site, which is considered the most suitable of a number of options, is currently used as public open space and is home to a children's play area.

Residents have highlighted a number of issues including the loss of playground and pubic amenity space, and road safety, as Roman Way is basically a single track road where a number of residents park out of necessity and which is used as a drop off and pick up point for visitors to Trellech School.
