SIR,
To all Vauxhall Fields Planning Objectors.
If you made objections to the building of 300-plus dwellings on Vauxhall Fields when it was initially put forward by Taylor Wimpey before Christmas, you must resubmit your objections for them to be recorded and considered.
This I found out by ringing County Hall to verify that my own objections were recorded. I was informed that because my objections were sent before the Vauxhall Fields were put onto the Deposit LDP, any comments and objections would not be carried over and a fresh representation needed to be made.
Digressing slightly, there has been, I believe, a conscious move by Taylor Wimpey to slip their application for planning consent in over the extended Christmas/ New Year period, therefore reducing time for representations.
Then to confuse Overmonnow residents, their planning application has been made at the same time as the county council's own LDP.
This has, I believe, lead Overmonnow residents to think that the Planning Department were deciding between the Wonastow site or Vauxhall Fields, where in fact Taylor Wimpey probably hope that the Wonastow site will gain consent with the required 'Affordable Housing' quota allowing them to build expensive but very profitable houses on Vauxhall Fields. Not either/ or, but both sites, leading to a new dwelling total of 600-plus with all that will imply.
To conclude, can we be assured by the town council that all of our elected representatives are voting as their electorate wish? That is to go against County Hall and refuse building consent on this enormous unsustainable scale.
(A concerned Overmonnow resident)
