Monmouth's historic Savoy Theatre could have a new name.

In a bid to secure its future, the theatre's Trustees are hoping to persuade Rolls Royce to become a major sponsor.

Trustee Terry Ashton said: "The Savoy in recent years has lurched from one crisis to another.  If we are to change this situation and have an assured future we need to find a major sponsor.   

"To this end I am trying to persuade Rolls Royce to undertake this role to co-incide with the 2010 anniversary of Charles Rolls' death. 

In return for their sponsorship we would re-name the theatre The Charles Rolls Theatre which would provide an active living memorial to Charles Rolls long after the celebrations of 2010.
