Sir,
I would like to take this opportunity to announce a brand new project that is starting in Monmouth.
Action on Hearing Loss Cymru will be launching 'Hear to Meet' at Bridges Community Centre on Wednesday 25th July from 1pm to 3pm. Hear to Meet is a free and friendly social get-together for adults (50+) who are experiencing hearing loss.
They might wear hearing aids, identify as hard of hearing or consider themselves to be deaf. Hear to Meet is simply a chance to meet new people, share information, experiences and enjoy activities over tea and biscuits.
Hearing loss is very common – it affects four out of 10 people over 50 and can make socialising more difficult. Sometimes meeting others in a similar situation can help.
With funding from the Big Lottery, Action on Hearing Loss Cymru is launching Hear to Meet groups across local communities in Wales.
Monmouth will be one of the first towns to benefit. If you have experience of hearing loss, or have a partner, friend or neighbour who does, please get in touch on 02920 333 378, or come along to Hear to Meet.
