SIR, I am writing to bring to your attention the issue of the recent green netting which has been placed on the natural hedgerow on the Wonastow Road and is preventing wildlife and birds from nesting at this crucial time of the year. This senseless act is preventing animals from rearing their fledgelings. The netting starts on the boundary frontage of Model Farm on the Wonastow Road and continues for several hundreds yards towards Dingestow. As a member of the general public and a regular attendant at the planning meetings regarding the now pending development of the Wonastow estate, I am appalled at the decision of the development contractors to allow this ludicrous act to take place. The pending building construction is not due to take place until September or October 2015. So why has this netting been allowed? After numerous attempts to contact Monmouthshire County Council's planning officers and Monmouthshire Wildlife Trust and as a result of not receiving any acknowledgement for my letter writing and telephone calls, I feel strongly that our bees, hedgehogs and birds need to be spoken on behalf of.
