SIR, I have been researching my ancestry and I decided to send away for my father's war records. I was very surprised and puzzled to see the name 'Dennis' above mine as particulars of children, especially as I thought I was an only child. There is no surname after his first name, all I have is the name Dennis and under place of birth it is Graig Lydart, Monmouth. I have tried many avenues but without any other surname than Vivian, nothing is coming up. I have nothing else to go by, he could even have been adopted. My father married my mother in October 1939. He may have at some time been posted in the Monmouth area before marriage. He was in the 6th Airborne Division and went over to Normandy. On the 6th June 1944 his glider crashed, he was wounded and came back to the UK and went to hospital, I think in Shropshire. As you can imagine reading this on his papers has completely thrown me and I am now consumed with finding an answer to something that has come right out of the blue. I need to find answers wherever they lead. Someone in the area may read this and point me in the right direction as at the moment, this is all I can think about. There is no one left for me to ask of that generation who may have known something. I am very anxious to get to the bottom of the matter if I possibly can and would welcome any help to find this person now at my time of life. If anyone can shed any light on this I would be very grateful. My father's name was Frederick Vivian. I have local paper clippings and photos of when he was wounded and came back to England. Somewhere, I could have a half brother that, for all these years, I have known nothing about, perhaps even nieces and nephews. Any other information you may need I can furnish but I am anxious to get to the bottom of this. You can contact me on: [email protected]">[email protected] Carole Louise Homannee Vivian (Kent)
