Florilegium, one of the world's leading baroque music groups will visits the Wyastone Summer Series on Saturday 7 June. Acclaimed as a "national treasure", the group will give a concert of music by Handel and Vivaldi and other eighteenth century favourites. They are joined by counter-tenor Derek Lee Solomon who will be singing popular operatic arias of the day. "The arias were written for the famous eighteenth century castrato, Farinelli", said Antony Smith, Business Manager at the Wyastone Estate. "He would have had the kind of reputation 300 years ago that Andrea Bocelli has these days; the concert tries to capture the sort of excitement that audiences felt about Farinelli." The Wyastone Summer Series is making a return after a two-year absence with its opening concert on Friday 6 June, followed by a further eleven on weekend through to 19 July. Located between Ross- on-Wye and Monmouth, in the heart of the Wye Valley, the Wyastone Summer Series is given in the concert hall designed and used by Nimbus Records. Guests arriving early can enjoy a picnic in the beautiful grounds of the Wyastone Estate, enjoy a leisurely drink on the terrace or to take supper in the Wyastone Pavilion. Tickets and further details are available from the Box Office at Wyastone on 01600 891 090,
