SIR,
For many years I have been puzzled about the fate of my grandmother. Immediate family members have been reluctant to give me any answers and, as I have got older, I have become more curious about her fate.
She was born Elizabeth Ann Moore, in 1892 in Blaenavon, Monmouthshire, although her family were English.
She was one of ten children of Thomas Moore and his wife Ellen Aulton. Thomas was a coal miner and the family moved around as he looked for work, mainly in the Midlands.
Elizabeth married Edwin John Symons in 1910 and had one son, my father Thomas James in 1911.
The marriage was a tempestuous one, as Edwin was known to have been a very violent man.
What happened to Elizabeth is simply not known by my family, but Edwin remarried to a lady called Dorothy Lane in the early part of 1921 in Merthyr Tydfil. I have searched and searched for a death record of my grandmother from the time my father was born, until the second marriage of my grandfather, and simply cannot locate one.
I am writing in the hope that some of your readers may recognise the names of my family, and may possibly be descendants of my great grandparents. I hope that I have some relatives still in the Blaenavon area that might know what happened to my grandmother.
My grandmother's brothers and sisters were;
Martha Jane Moore b 1875
Harry Moore b 1877
Alice Moore b 1878
Thomas J Moore b 1881
Ellen Moore b 1883
George E Moore b 1884
Arthur Moore b 1888
Ernest Moore b 1890
Annie Moore b 1894
