SIR, The Waitrose Partnership has a long tradition of supporting music. This dates back to Spedan Lewis, who recognised the potential for music to enhance people's lives. The chairman's support for music has always formed part of our charitable donations, for which we seek no commercial return. Music Matters is an annual process by which branches are invited to endorse two bids per branch from musical organisations, in their local area, for support from central funds. All types of music will be considered. Bids are invited for one-off donations. Application forms will be kept at the welcome desk.
