Monmouth’s own biking Youtube influencer has claimed another award for her off-road achievements.

Vanessa Ruck - also known as The Girl on a Bike - won first in the ladies category at The Cwm Lladdfa, an extreme offroad course. She said: "I’d like to not talk about how many other ladies were in the ladies class. But first place is first place. It doesn’t matter if I was the only girl who showed up. Turning up, braving it, facing the fear on the start line and tackling the terrain of the Sherco Offroad extreme course, that’s something I’m proud of. I’ll take first. I like to remind myself that by simply going and trying, you’re beating the version of you who didn’t bother. Get up and give it a go! What’s the worse that can happen?"Vanessa has garnered over 28 thousand Youtube subscribers as well as a monumental 95 thousand followers on her Instagram account. Her journey into the world of bikes began in 2014 when she was sadly hit by a driver, who ran a red light. Seven years and seven surgeries later, she’s travelling the world; winning awards for rallies and off-road track times, showing no signs whatsoever of slowing down.
