SIR,

Last week I watched as six trees were felled in the area between Monmouth Rowing Club and the Wye Bridge.

Now the area is again filled with parked cars, an extension to the existing muddy parking area.

In most towns, the river bank is an assett where visitors can picnic and enjoy the river. With the trees removed, there will now be more noise and pollution from the A40.

I know more parking is needed in Monmouth but do visitors really want to enjoy a picnic squeezed between parked cars?

There may of course be a good reason for the trees having been felled, I would be interested in knowing why.
