Two Monmouth footballers who first played football together more than 50 years ago recently represented Wales in an over 55 match against England at Bisham Abbey, Wales winning the game 2-1.
Monmouth have a team in the Welsh Veteran League, and teams aged over 40 and 45 have played English teams before, but it was nice to be in at the start of things with this age group.
Fred Beach and Tony Jones, both 59 years old, would have played football together while in Priory Street Primary School in 1958. They both played in the Monmouth Juvenile League, and later for an excellent Monmouth Colts under 18 Team in 1966.
