Monmouth Town Council's Environmental Affairs Committee have adopted one of the telephone kiosks at the Shire Hall and will be converted by them for use as a publicly accessible defibrillator point in conjunction with Community Heartbeat Trust. This will be in addition to the current fundraising by Helmet Hair for a defibrillator outside the shop. Darren Childs of Helmet Hair said donations have so far raised £1,100, although a security cabinet to house the machine is going to cost an extra £400: "Our target with the cabinet now stands at £1,800. I am happy the phone box is being converted to house a defibrillator as I believe you cannot have enough of them" he said.
