Monmouth 1st XI turned in an assured performance to ease to an eight-wicket win over visiting Malvern 1st XI.

Young stars Matt Jones and Callum Philpott were in terrific form for Monmouth, as they produced excellent displays with the bat and ball.

Attempting to record a first outright win in over a month, skipper Paul Swingwood elected to bowl first and Monmouth were able to restrict the visitors well in the first innings.

Seamer Jon Roberts (one for 42) made an early breakthrough but Malvern opener Richard Cullen (96) dominated a second-wicket partnership of exactly one hundred before wickets began to tumble.
