Monmouth, in common with cities, towns and villages across the UK, has been paying tribute to those brave men and women who lost their lives in service to their country.
Crowds braved the wind and rain on Sunday to line the streets of Monmouth for the traditional Remembrance Sunday Service.
The Parade from the R Mon R E Regimental Headquarters at Monmouth Castle to the Cenotaph in St James' Square was led by the Corps of Drums and included the Commanding Officer of the Royal Monmouth Royal Engineers, cadets, a contingent from HMS Monmouth, Royal British Legion Veterans, members of the Royal Naval Association and the Royal Engineers Association, Scouts and Guides and Brownies.
Civic dignitaries included Monmouth MP (David Davies), County Counc Sue White (Chairman, Monmouthshire County Council), the Mayor of Monmouth (Counc Terry Christopher) and local councillors.
The newly formed Monmouth and District Evacuees Association was also represented, along with the police, St John Ambulance and the Fire Brigade.
A moving service at the Cenotaph was conducted by the Revd Jeremy Harris, assisted by representatives from local churches.
The two minute silence was followed by a wreath laying ceremony, which preceded a service at St Mary's Priory Church, where the organist was Mr Ian Dollins and an anthem was sung by St Mary's Church Choir.
The service at the Castle was conducted by the Regimental Chaplain, with poems read by the Commanding Officer, the Regimental Sergeant Major, Steve Morgan and his daughter Angharad.
There was a very good attendance at the Remembrance Sunday Service in the Memorial Hall at Catbrook. The service was conducted by the Revd Sandra Howells who, in her address, gave a history of the countrywide Remembrance Day services.
John Dingle read the lesson and Bill Butler read out the names of the fallen from the village in the two World Wars.
The Monmouth Branch of the Royal British Legion was represented by Mrs Louise Orr (Standard Bearer), and Derek Jones who laid the wreath and gave the Exhortations.
Music was provided by Monmouth Town Band and refreshments by the Catbrook Ladies.
