The Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers (M) marched through Monmouth on Sunday (9th December) to exercise their freedom of the town.
Along with their affiliate regiments the soldiers, some recently returned from duty in Afghanistan, took the salute from His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester, who is Honorary Colonel of the Regiment and then marched to St Mary's Parish Church for a service before marching back up to the castle grounds for a medals parade for those who have returned from Afghanistan.
The column of soldiers, led by The Band of the Prince of Wales' Division, were given an ovation by members of the public in Agincourt Square.
Included in the march were the Cwmbran-based LAD, the Light Air Detachment for the RMRE, 225, 100 and 108 Squadrons, the Jersey Field Squadron and the RHQ troop based on Vauxhall Camp here in Monmouth.
