A POPULAR Monmouth pub is to reopen next month after building and refurbishment works.

The bar and kitchen at the King’s Head will reopen at the end of May after owners of the next door King’s Head Hotel discovered that the frontage was structurally unstable in January.

A structural survey found that one of the walls between the Wetherspoon pub and hotel was “collapsing,” and that work would need to take place in order to make the hotel safe.

Agincourt Street in Monmouth was subject to an emergency road closure at the time, with the adjacent Shire Hall also closed for a short time.

Pub manager Chris Jenkins confirmed that the bar and kitchen will reopen on 30th May, while the hotel will open a few weeks later on 7th July.
