MONMOUTH Pet shop has reopened after being badly hit by Storm Claudia, and a fundraising page has been set up in aid of getting the shop back on its feet.

Monmouth Paws Pet Supplies and Grooming Salon will be opening their grooming salon from November 22, and they can now serve customers, but due to the floods a lot of their stock was affected.

The independent-family run pet shop was one of many shops in Monmouth which was severely hit by the storm. On November 15 they were alerted by a colleague in the early hours of the morning of Monnow Street being flooded.

The community has worked tirelessly to get the shop back up and running, and around 80 per cent of the animals in their care were rescued.

They have set up a Go Fund Me page after there has been issues with their insurances they are now not covered.

The page has raised over £500 so far and the proceedings will go towards replacing stock, replacing some of the freezers/ fridge, fixing the animal pen flooring, repairing or replacing areas of flooding that are starting to rise from water damage, fixing or replacing doors that now won’t close due to moisture, replacing other lost electrical goods and general items that had to be thrown away, carpet cleaning of the stairs and general cleaning and maintenance.
