A WOULD-BE landlord has said neighbours have given him “all positive feedback” on his plan to rent out rooms in a house he owns.

Gary Price intends to use a five bedroom house, a door down from his own home on Hadnock Road, as a house of multiple occupation or HMO.

He has asked Monmouthshire County Council for change of use planning permission for The Rosary which he described, in his application, as a “small HMO which is much needed in this area and feel the property is ideal for this”.

The Rosary currently has residential permission and Mr Price, who lives at the Bank House, said he has consulted neighbours and where the application form asks for details he has written: ” Spoke to neighbours of my intentions of renting rooms and all positive feedback.”

His application also states “no development” of the property is required.

Plans submitted with the application show there would be three bedrooms, including one ensuite, along with a dining and living area and separate kitchen and bathroom on the ground floor.

The first floor would have two ensuite bedrooms while plans also show the property has a garage and parking space for between four and six cars on the driveway.

The application is being considered by the council’s planning department and members of the public have until Tuesday, September 1 to comment on the plans.
