Hannah Tilley, from Monmouth, has been awarded £1,000 in recognition of her outstanding sporting ability through the OCS Young Sports Person Awards in partnership with SportsAid. Sailor Hannah was one of two runners-up for the regional award in Wales.

Hannah (14) began sailing at the age of seven and made remarkable progress to win her first National at just nine.

A member of the U16 Wales and GB teams and British Number One U14 girl, she describes her greatest success to date as beating the national and world champion last season to win the National.

Hannah is totally dedicated to her sport spending every weekend sailing and every night rowing to maintain her fitness level. "Getting this recognition and funding from this award is great," said Hannah. "I really want to go on to make an impression in World Championships and to be part of Team GB at the 2016 Olympics."

Hannah was selected for an award from thousands of young sports people who were identified and nominated to SportsAid by their sport's National Governing Body.

"Through these awards we aim to give financial assistance and encouragement to young sports people and over the past 10 years we have done just that," says OCS Chief Executive Chris Cracknell."
