Monmouth Flyers Trampoline Club made a strong return to competition last weekend, securing multiple medals at the Tony James Cup held at Abertillery Sports Centre.

Gold medals for Ieuan Williams, Lyra Sugar, and Sophie Blair led the way for a confident Monmouth Flyers team, with 11 gymnasts competing in total - a clear sign of the club’s post-pandemic revival.

Formerly known as Monmouth Trampoline Club, Monmouth Flyers operates out of Monmouth School Sports Club and is working to recapture the success of previous years by developing a new generation of trampoline gymnasts.

Ieuan Williams took first place with a well-executed routine in the boys 10-bounce (ages 8–10), while Lyra Sugar topped a crowded field in the girls novice level 2 (ages 6–10). Sophie Blair also struck gold with an excellent performance in the girls novice level 2 (ages 11–14).

In a memorable sibling debut, Gwên and Owen Nicholls both earned individual silver medals in the 10-bounce (ages 6–7). Ariadne Sugar narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth in the same girls' category.

In the girls 10-bounce (ages 11–14) event, Charlotte Bevan secured bronze, followed closely by debutant Charlotte Long in fifth place. Another bronze came courtesy of Poppy Newell in the novice level 3 (ages 11–14) competition.

Evie Hill, also making her debut, placed fifth in the girls 10-bounce (ages 8–10).
