MONMOUTH Photographic Club is currently working on a project to assist BBC 1's the One Show.
The programme's producers enlisted the help of photographers from both sides of the River Severn to produce a time-lapse record of high tides on the water between 19th and 22nd February.
Members of the Monmouth club captured the event from below the Severn Bridge at Beachley. Forecasters were expecting the highest tide in 25 years, but club members Terry Summers and John Crowland were on hand to create record proceedings.
The final time-lapse film, called "Tidemarks", could be just 30 seconds long, but will be complied from more than 50 hours of filming. It is expected to be aired in the coming weeks.
Mr Crowland said: "It is great that the BBC decided to involve small organisations like Monmouth Photographic Club in such a fantastic
project.
It helps us to learn new techniques and then see the product of our work, however briefly, on national television."
Monmouth Photographic Club aims to help members of all abilities with whatever equipment they may have, (from a basic compact to a more complex SLR) to improve both the quality and enjoyment of their photo-
graphy.
The group enjoy regular talks from professionals, and also organises practical sessions, competitions, and members' evenings.
