WORK to refurbish and upgrade Monmouth’s Ambulance Station is set to begin by mid- October, with completion expected by March 2026, the Welsh Ambulance Services Trust has confirmed.
The redevelopment will transform the existing station, upgrading welfare and office facilities for operational staff, creating a multifunctional training and learning space for frontline crews, and introducing a garaged drive-through area so ambulances can be cleaned and restocked internally.
Catherine Fookes MP for Monmouthshire welcomed the awaited news, saying: “I am delighted that work will soon begin to upgrade Monmouth’s Ambulance Station. This is fantastic news for our community and for the incredible frontline workers who serve us every day.
The upgraded station will ensure that our local ambulance crews have the modern facilities they need to continue providing lifesaving care across Monmouthshire”
The Welsh Ambulance Services Trust confirmed that procurement was completed in early September, a preferred contractor has been appointed, and the 20-week programme is due to start later this month.
“I’ve been pushing for progress on this redevelopment and will continue to work closely with the Welsh Ambulance Service to keep residents updated as the works get underway.”
