Following a heavy defeat at Pontnewydd in early July, where Terry Rogers and Trevor Knight were the only Monmouth pair to post a win, the Seniors hit something of a purple patch on their home territory.

A five/four victory against The Forest of Dean was followed by a win against a visiting Lydney side that only managed to take a half from this match in answer to the Seniors' five and a half. July fixtures ended with a domestic encounter against the Ladies' Section. This match is one of the fixture-list highlights and once again lived up to expectations with all involved enjoying a close contest that the Ladies deservedly won by five games to four.

August away fixtures saw the Seniors travelling to Creigiau and Belmont where both host sides proved too strong for the Monmouth visitors, who were defeated 7/1 on both occasions. A six/two home victory against Parc was some compensation for the disappointing away results.

Hywel Jones and Terry Rogers, the organisers of the Monmouth Seniors' Open, were very grateful that the 29th of August was one of the few days of an extremely wet month when the weather allowed unrestricted golf to be played. The Open attracted many visitors from clubs near and far and this event, once again, proved to be a huge success. Hywel and Terry were again grateful to the Ladies' section, particularly Vera reeks, Shirley Rubery, Marion Workman and Sheilagh Pursey whose  valuable assistance assured that everything ran according to plan.

Monmouth's Robbie Williams's stableford score of 38 points placed him in the overall champion's position with Derek Watson remembering the day for his hole-in-one on the par 3 sixteenth. From the ranks of the home club Lionel Watkins ran out winner of the 0-16 handicappers with 33 points, Sukriti Mallick the winner in the 17-24 handicap category with 37 points and David Lawton, with 33 points, topping the over seventies section. Two Chipping-Sodbury golfers ran out winners from the visitors in the low and high handicap categories. R. Knapman winning the former with 35 points and T. Moseley the latter with 36 points. C. Rogers from the Henbury Club carded the best score from the visiting players over seventy with 33 points.
