The new Miss Monmouthshire has been crowned. 18-year-old Louisa Fletcher was voted into her position at a glittery ceremony in Port Talbot on 26th April. The Abergavenny A level student takes the role over from 22-year-old Emilie Parry-Williams, from Glascoed. "It is all very exciting," said Louisa. "I wasn't even expecting to get through to the final, let alone win. "I am really interested in sport so through my term I will aim to encourage sport in school children, especially girls, by maybe setting up some tournaments." Louisa is currently studying for A levels in Biology, Geography and Religious Education, with exams in the coming weeks. The horsey girl enjoys dressage, hockey and netball, and hopes to complete a gap year next year before seeking a career possibly in events management. Previous Miss Monmouthshire, Emilie Parry-Williams, is getting set to up sticks from her countryside home for a move to London in September. The opera singer has gained a place at Trinity College to read music. She said: "I'm devastated to hand over the title, it has been such a great year. "There were so many great moments but the highlights would have to be attending Monmouth Show and judging at Usk Show. Helping with any community event was great fun and very rewarding."
