A SCHEME set up to help tenants with the financial cost of downsizing their homes has been renewed for a third consecutive year.

Monmouthshire Housing Association's Smart Move scheme provides tenants with up to £1,000 funding if they downsize their home to one which they fully occupy. The scheme for the 2015-16 financial year offers 25 awards of up to £1,000 for qualifying tenants.

The Smart Move scheme is open to any MHA tenant who is currently under occupying their home. Tenants who meet the qualifying criteria will be eligible to receive Smart Move funding to help them move home.

Smart Move was initially set up in June 2013 as a measure to assist tenants affected by the bedroom tax as well as helping to make larger properties available.
