Committee members, friends and family of the Monmouthshire Show Society Ltd gathered at the Showground on Saturday November 12, Remembrance weekend, to plant an English Oak Tree in memory of the many committee members, helpers and friends of the Society who are no longer with us in person but remain in our hearts and minds.

Over its long history the Society has been supported in so many ways by hard working and dedicated people and the idea to plant a Memorial Tree grew, from celebrating the lives of past committee members, to honouring the memory of anyone who has had an association with the Society.

Mr John Jenkins, patron of the Society addressed the attending families and Mrs Joyce Grove laid a remembrance poppy wreath followed by a minute’s silence. Memory hearts were hung in the tree representing loved ones in what are beautiful surroundings and were very familiar to them.

Refreshments and the chance to catch up with old and new friends was appreciated by all who attended.
