Each class acted and sang their version of the traditional song celebrating the Welsh town with the longest name - Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch - then pupils competed with musical set pieces including a drummer, a piccolo player and song.

Competitions included throwing balls through various size holes; the first to blow up an inflatable daffodil and a race to see who could don the traditional clothes of a Welsh lady the quickest.

Even the staff got involved with a speed test to see who could eat the most Welsh cakes in a minute, (won by Miss Rees) and Mr Lewis showed off his surprising musical talent with a song on his guitar.

The grand finale saw the competition for the best Welsh poet. In third place was Elisabeth Jackson, second place went to Alex Bingham and the MCS Y7 bard for 2023 was awarded to Anastasia Morgan.
