SIR,

As a long term resident in Monmouth I regularly visited the market when it was in Agincourt Square.

Since it was moved to the car park at the bottom of town I have only visited it twice; once when it was first moved and once last Saturday to re-assure myself that my impressions after my visit were not misplaced.

How anyone can even think of having a market in a miserable wet windy and unattractive area like its current location beggars belief.

The sooner the market comes back to its rightful position in Agincourt Square the better.

I am sure that the vast majority of traders will welcome its return to the square as will the residents of Monmouth.

The return will ensure that Agincourt Square retains its place as the focal centre of the town and that the money spent on the Shire Hall has not been wasted.

If the decision makers want to ignore the wishes of the people perhaps we should start a petition to ensure that they are made aware of the feelings of the people of Monmouth.
