SIR,

A visit to Monmouth market last Saturday (15th January) should have convinced anyone who had any doubts that the sooner the market returns to Agincourt Square the better.

On this cold, wet and windy day the biggest stall holder had to abandon his site as the wind was blowing away the tarpaulins.

And the very few remaining stall holders looked absolutely forlorn as they braved the elements.

Agincourt Square, in the centre of the town, offers protection from the elements, is a far more attractive position and will benefit the traders and the town.

A petition has been started to get the market back to the square and can be found in a number of independent traders premises.

I would urge everyone who cares about Monmouth to sign the petition so that we can ensure Monmouth remains a thriving market town.
