Market could operate at both ends

SIR,

I don't understand why the market stalls have still not returned to the square after so many people, and some of the market traders, have signed the petition asking for it to return.

Compared to how it used to look with the colouful stalls, and with people buying and selling, the square looks dull and uninviting.

It is not a scene to attract tourists.

Surely if some of the stallholders wish to remain at the bottom of town that is up to them.

It will mean interest and variety at both ends of the town.
