A BRITISH Empire Medal has been presented to a Wye Valley woman in recognition of her services to the Royal Society of St George and the community in Gloucestershire.
Margaret Fuller of Tutshill near Chepstow was recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours in June, and went to Shire Hall in Gloucester to receive her BEM from Mr Edward Gillespie, the Lord Lieutenant of Gloucestershire.
Beth Fordham of Blakeney was also presented with a BEM for her community work in the Forest village.
Deputy Lord Lieutenant Roger Deeks said: “Margaret had been a member of the Royal Society of St George since 1997 and secretary for over 10 years, serving with distinction, efficiency and professionalism.”
Each year the Gloucestershire branch makes awards to two young people for their service to the community.
