A MAN who was arrested on suspicion of murder following a suspected clash involving Hell’s Angels and another biker gang has been released on bail.

A 40-year-old from the Torfaen area was taken into police custody last Friday on suspicion of the murder of Anthony ‘Tony’ Jones, 56, who died following a violent disturbance just over the Monmouthshire border in Pontnewynydd, Pontypool.

At the time of his arrest, he was one of 25 men to have been detained for a range of offences relating to the incident on Thursday evening, August 6.

Gwent Police have now confirmed that he has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

A blue Ford Transit van, which police had launched an appeal to locate, has also been found, while a man from the Brynmawr area who police wanted to question has been tracked down.

“The Ford Transit van was located outside of the Gwent area and we’re currently assessing the van to establish how it relates to our investigation,” said Detective Superintendent Laura Bartley, the Senior Investigating Officer last week.

“Officers have also located Anthony Paul Jones and we will be speaking to him in connection with our enquiries. We understand that this complex investigation has caused substantial disruption within our communities since it was reported to us.”

“We are extremely grateful for the patience, support and co-operation shown by our communities while this work continues.”

"I would still urge anyone who has information to contact us as the details that you might hold could assist our ability to bring those responsible to justice."
