SIR,

Will Aid's Make a Will Month takes place in November and solicitors in the local area are now taking appointments to write basic Wills, without charging their normal fee.

They are giving their time and expertise to raise money for the Will Aid charities and hope that their Will Aid clients will donate to the Will Aid charities rather than paying them for their services. As a guide, the suggested donation levels are £40 for a codicil or amendment to a current Will, £75 for a single Will or £110 for a pair of Wills.

Will Aid's Make a Will Month provides the perfect opportunity for your readers to put their affairs in order. But they need to book as soon as possible, as appointments do get taken quickly.

As you will see from the release, our latest survey into Wills reveals that 60% of people do not have a Will. The consequences of someone dying without a proper Will can be very painful for their family and loved ones.

I hope you will be able to publicise this worthwhile campaign and help us beat our previous campaign total of more than £750,000 donated to the Will Aid charities.

Local solicitors participating in Will Aid are: Reynolds Galbraith (contact M Ian Galbraith on 01291 625283) at 11/11a Welsh Street, Chepstow, Chepstow, NP16 5LN and Evans and Ellis (contact Mrs P Nair on 01291 622814) at Cas-Gwent Chambers, Welsh Street, Chepstow, NP16 5XG.

With grateful thanks.
