Local motorcycle champ, Luke Jones, battled strong winds to achieve 5th place in the 4th round of the National 600 Superstock series at Donington Park on Bank Holiday Monday. Luke, who was British 125 champion last year, began in fifth position on the grid and had a good start, immediately going into fourth position. However, the race was stopped after the first three laps due to an accident, and was re-started with reduced laps. Unfortunately, this time Luke made a mistake at the start which left him in 15th place on the first lap. But when there were just two laps to go he was back up into fourth. However, unfortunate braking at the Melbourne loop put him back into fifth before the finish. In spite of the poor start and the problems Luke won 11 points and retained 2nd place in the Championship, just nine points adrift of the leader, Robbie Brown. Luke is hoping for a better result at the next meeting at Snetterton on June 15th. The Jones Team is grateful to its sponsors.
