A LUCKY local has scooped in excess of £12,500 after buying the winning ticket for Monmouth Rugby Club’s lotto draw.
The ticket was won in June by an anonymous person who regularly buys a ticket. The latest big win means that the lotto has paid out in excess of £25,000 since its launch.
The concept of the lotto is one of helping the rugby club by re-investing surplus funds back into rugby development in the area.?The lotto now forms an important part of the funding required to replace and upgrade equipment, playing facilities, the training of coaches, first aiders and other key volunteers, helping ensure young people who live in the surrounding area gain access to a safe, enjoyable environment within which to develop their understanding of the game of rugby union and the broader benefits of playing team sport.
Lloyd Davies, Monmouth RFC’s chairman said: “The club would like to thank all those individuals who regularly purchase a weekly lotto ticket, either directly from the club, or one of our partner outlets who have been great supporters of the cause.
“A massive thank you again to The Royal Oak, Kings Fee Spar, Somerset Arms, Green Dragon, Paws Pet Shop, Handyman House and Mccolls in Wyesham and Convey Law in Newport.”
